Steve Seidel worked in schools, both secondary and post-secondary, in a variety of roles, including teacher, administrator, and researcher, for 51 years. He retired from the faculty of the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2022, where he taught and was director of the Arts in Education program for 18 years. He has worked at Project Zero since 1987 and was director of PZ from 2000-2008. Seidel has researched the use of reflective practices in schools, the close examination of student work, the documentation of individual and group learning, and questions of quality in arts education. He has convened and facilitated a monthly forum for educators called ROUNDS since 1996. Before working in higher education, Seidel taught high-school theater and language arts in the Boston area for 17 years. He has also worked as a professional actor, a puppeteer, and a stage director.
