Director Transition
Beginning July 1, 2023, Carrie James and Liz Dawes Duraisingh will become the Co-Directors of PZ. As veteran Principal Investigators, Carrie and Liz bring a range of experiences leading collaborative research projects, both in the U.S. and internationally, exploring topics such as teacher development, intercultural learning, history education, digital well-being, and youth civic participation. They look forward to working collaboratively with their colleagues to build on decades of excellent PZ work and ensure that the organization continues to play an important leadership role within the field of education and beyond.
They take over from Daniel Wilson, who is stepping down after nine highly successful years as Director. Among his many accomplishments, Daniel led the organization in celebrating its 50th anniversary and raised over a million dollars for teacher scholarships and doctoral student fellowships to increase the involvement of diverse educators and scholars at PZ. While he had planned to return to his teaching and research activities after five years of serving as Director, by popular demand he agreed to extend his term and ended up expertly shepherding the organization through the challenges of the pandemic.
