A common question across Carin's work is how educators can help young people develop understanding and dispositions helpful for addressing local and global challenges. Her current projects explore key issues in K-12 civics education, and cognitive shifts that support agency and hope as responses to uncertainty and challenge.
PZ Work
In her daily work, Carin moves between project management, learning design, and research. She frequently collaborates with the Democratic Knowledge Project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and with educators across the U.S. and internationally (Australia, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and others).
Beyond PZ
Before coming to PZ, Carin taught high school English and ESOL in urban, rural, and suburban settings and was a school-based instructional coach.

Carin's PZ Pick
Carin recommends the "Values, Identities, Actions" thinking routine from the Arts as Civic Commons project, engaging users in thinking about key civic concepts by exploring a work of art or other source material.
