ArtC Handbook
The Arts as Civic Commons (ArtC) Handbook offers a flexible set of teaching tools that harness the power of art to spark inquiry into civic life. Built around the idea that artworks can illuminate how identities, systems, and visions shape the ways we live together, the handbook provides short thinking routines, longer thinking arcs, facilitator guidelines, and examples from real classrooms and community settings. Designed for use with learners from late primary through adulthood, the materials support close looking, reflective dialogue, and thinking-through-making across a wide range of artworks and contexts. Together, these resources equip educators to use art as a shared civic space where participants explore perspectives, interrogate societal forces, and imagine more just and inclusive futures.
