Harvard University Art Museums (HUAM) Collaboration

Text:

Using the Agnes Mongan Study Center at the Fogg Art Museum as a model, Harvard University Art Museums (HUAM) in collaboration with Project Zero are conducting research into the learning opportunities afforded through such study centers. The proposed research has three goals. The first is to empiraclly investigate the powerful characteristics of study center learning and develop a clear, common language for talking about their benefits. The second goal is to situate these characteristics in the larger contexts of museum education, cognitive science, and educational research and theory. The third goal is to provide HUAM with a research-based perspective on study center learning from which it can leverage the learning potential of all of its education offerings, from study centers to student and faculty resources to public programming.
