Marie Tai

She/Her
Director of Finance and Administration

Marie joined Project Zero in 2026 as the Director of Finance and Administration, bringing a focus on aligning mission with resources to support researchers in turning bold ideas into real-world impact.

PZ Work

Marie is one of the financial and administrative engines behind cutting-edge education research at Harvard—overseeing the budget, managing grants, and leading a strong admin team to keep PZ's work moving forward.

Beyond PZ

A musician, arts education advocate, and administrator, Marie comes to Project Zero from the Harvard Library Archives and Special Collections Unit where she served as the director of operations and finance. Before joining the university in 2019 as the associate director for administration and finance at the Office for the Arts, she spent 15 years at the Community Music Center of Boston in roles ranging from registrar to chief operating officer. Her connection to the organization dates back even further, having first been a student and high school employee there.

Marie has been engaged in the broader arts education community through the National Guild of Community Arts Education, including as a fellow, ambassador, and steering committee member for its Artists for Racial Equity Network. She serves on the Boston Cultural Council and was appointed a board member in 2025. Born and raised in Boston, Marie was educated in the Boston Public Schools and holds a B.M. from Berklee College of Music and an M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts.

Where to Find Marie

Marie enjoys playing tennis, swimming, baking sourdough bread and learning how to grow things in her neighborhood garden. She is also human to Mittens—a distinguished 17-year-old rescue polydactyl cat.
